Here's how to swap to non-toxic cat litter:
Cat litter is something your pet uses every day, often multiple times. Cats have direct, full-body contact with litter and groom themselves afterward, which means whatever the litter is made of can end up on their skin, paws, and eventually be ingested. Dust from litter also becomes airborne, affecting what both you and your cat breathe in.
Check the packaging or product listing of your current cat litter to see what it is made of and whether it contains added fragrances or chemical additives. Welpr does not have a scanner for this category, so you will need to look at labels yourself.
If you are not ready to switch litters right away, a few small changes can reduce dust and exposure for both you and your cat. This is especially helpful if your current litter is a dusty clay or fragranced formula.
Look for litters made from natural, minimally processed materials like wood, corn, walnut shell, grass, or unbleached paper. The best options skip synthetic fragrances and chemical clumping agents entirely, relying on the natural absorbency of the material itself.
