Here's how to swap to non-toxic cleaning wipes:
Cleaning wipes combine a cleaning formula with a fabric pad, so both the solution and the material matter. Because wipes are used by hand, your skin is in direct contact with the formula every time you use them. Many conventional wipes contain undisclosed fragrances, harsh preservatives, and surfactants that can linger on surfaces and skin.
Flip over your current cleaning wipes and look at the ingredient list or product description. Some brands use vague terms like "proprietary blend" or simply list "fragrance" without any detail, which makes it hard to know what you're actually using.
If you're not ready to replace your wipes right away, a few small changes can reduce how much of the formula contacts your skin and lingers on surfaces.
Look for cleaning wipes with short, fully disclosed ingredient lists and no added fragrance. If scented, the fragrance should come from essential oils or a fully disclosed, third-party certified source.
