Here's how to swap to non-toxic essential oils:
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts often used on the skin, in diffusers, or added to DIY products. Because they are highly concentrated, the purity of the oil and what else is in the bottle matters a lot.
Check the labels on your current essential oils. Look for a clear list of ingredients, the plant's Latin name, how it was extracted (you want steam-distilled), and info on purity. Oils with vague labeling, synthetic fragrances, or solvent-extracted methods are worth flagging first.
If you are not ready to replace your oils right away, small adjustments in how you use them can make a difference. This is especially helpful for oils you apply to skin or diffuse in enclosed spaces.
Look for oils that are 100% pure, single-ingredient plant extracts with no added fillers, synthetic fragrances, or unlisted blending agents. Simple, transparent labeling is a strong sign of a quality product.
