Here's how to swap to non-toxic finger paints:
Finger paint is a high-contact product for babies and toddlers. Little ones touch it with their hands, spread it on their skin, and often put their fingers in their mouths during or after painting. That makes the ingredients in finger paint especially important.
Look at the packaging or product listing for a full ingredient list. If the brand doesn't clearly disclose what's in the paint, that's a reason to be cautious.
If you're not ready to replace what you have, a few simple habits can reduce how much contact your child has with the paint's ingredients.
The best finger paints use simple, food-grade or plant-based ingredients with natural colorants. Look for brands that fully disclose every ingredient on the label.
