Here's how to swap to non-toxic razors:
Razors glide directly over skin, often on sensitive areas like the face, underarms, and bikini line. What matters most is the lubricating strip and any added moisturizing ingredients, since these sit on freshly shaved skin that's more absorbent than usual.
Most razor packaging doesn't list the ingredients in the lubricating strip, but you can often find them on the brand's website. Use the Welpr Personal Care and Cosmetic Scanner to check any shaving creams, gels, or aftershaves you pair with your razor.
If you're not ready to switch razors right away, a few small changes can reduce what your skin absorbs during shaving. Freshly shaved skin is especially open to absorbing whatever sits on it.
Look for razors with simple, fragrance-free lubricating strips or no strip at all. Safety razors and straight razors are naturally clean options since they use bare metal blades with no added ingredients.
