How We Vet Clothing on Welpr
We wear clothes all day, every day, and since our skin is our largest organ, what we put against it matters.
Here’s what we look for before adding anything to Welpr:
Natural, breathable fibers
We focus on materials like organic cotton, linen, hemp, wool, and silk. They’re better for your skin, more comfortable to wear, safer for the planet, and less likely to carry chemical residues.
Synthetics + dyes
We avoid synthetic fabrics as much as possible. If something includes elastane, spandex, or recycled synthetics (for stretch or performance), it has to be minimal and made without PFAS, BPA, or other harmful chemicals. We also skip garments dyed with azo dyes and look for low-impact or plant-based dyes instead.
Certifications help, but they’re not everything
We highlight trusted third-party certifications like GOTS and OEKO-TEX® when they’re available. But we don’t rely on them alone. Certifications can be costly and don’t always tell the full story. That’s why we vet every product ourselves.
Only from transparent brands
We favor companies that clearly share what’s in their clothing and how it’s made, especially those committed to ethical sourcing, low-waste production, and fair labor practices. And we love brands whose full line meets our standards, so you can shop freely knowing you’re choosing safer options.
Look for the Welpr Approved tag
If a piece meets all of our standards (and every clothing item on Welpr does), you’ll see the Welpr Approved certification on the product card.
