How We Vet Perfume & Cologne on Welpr

Last updated: March 17, 2026

Most conventional fragrances are loaded with undisclosed blends, hormone disruptors, and potential allergens. At Welpr, we only list options that are safe to wear and fully transparent.

Here’s what we look for:

Natural fragrance comes first

We prioritize scents made from essential oils, botanical extracts, and natural isolates. If a formula includes synthetics, they must be certified safe and totally free from the usual fragrance toxins.

Clean carriers only

Alcohol-based scents must use organic alcohol (like cane sugar). For oil-based, we look for clean carriers like jojoba, coconut, or sunflower oil.

Full transparency is non-negotiable

If a brand isn’t clear about what’s in the formula, it doesn’t make the cut. We don’t allow generic “fragrance” or “parfum” unless the brand fully discloses every ingredient behind it.

Always free from:

  • Synthetic fragrance or “parfum” (unless fully disclosed + third-party certified safe)
  • Phthalates
  • Parabens
  • Formaldehyde + formaldehyde-releasing compounds
  • PEGs, BHT, and other endocrine disruptors
  • Artificial dyes

Look for the Welpr Approved tag

If a perfume or cologne meets all our standards (and every one on Welpr does), you’ll see the Welpr Approved certification right on the product card.
